Forklift and industrial tires — press-ons, solids and cushion.
Forklift rubber is ordered rather than stocked, the same as tracks and large construction tires, and for the same reason: the sizes run into the hundreds and no shop keeps a rack of them. Press-ons, solids and cushion tires come through the Houston distributors on about a week, and they go on where the machine works.
Press-on, solid and cushion tires for forklifts, lifts and yard equipment.
Press-on, solid, cushion, pneumatic — knowing which is half the order
A cushion or press-on truck runs a band pressed onto a smooth steel wheel. A pneumatic truck runs a tire on a rim, and the solid version of that is a solid tire in a pneumatic size — same fitment, no air, no punctures. They are not interchangeable and the wheel tells you which you have. If you are not sure, send a photo of the wheel with the size off the side of the tire and we will tell you what it takes.
About a week, ordered through Houston
Tracks, press-ons and solids all run about a week door to door. The distributors that carry them are in Houston, so it is freight or somebody driving down I-10 to collect, and you get the actual timing with the quote. Same supply chain as OTR and construction tires and rubber tracks.
Fitting a press-on
Press-on tires need a hydraulic press. Is there one here — pressed on at the yard, or on site — or do the wheels go out to somebody with a press? It decides what a customer can be told about timing, and it is asked on the forklift page twice.
Where these machines live around here
Warehouses and distribution yards, dock and port equipment, plant and refinery yards, lumber and pipe yards, and every shop with a forklift out the back. The machine is almost never anywhere convenient and almost never worth taking off site for a tire, which is the argument for a truck that comes to it.
A worn solid costs more than the tire
Past the wear line a solid or press-on stops absorbing anything, and everything it used to absorb goes into the mast, the bearings, the load and the operator. Chunked and flat-spotted tires do the same thing in bursts. It shows up as a rougher truck, a shorter machine life and a driver who is being shaken all shift — and it changes how a loaded mast behaves, which is a safety argument before it is a maintenance one.
Lifts and yard equipment too
Scissor lifts, telehandlers, yard tugs and the small industrial machines that run solid tires because a puncture in a warehouse costs more than the tire ever did. Same ordering, same fitting, same visit.
Order before the machine is unusable
The cheapest version of this job is the one where you tell us in the week you noticed, not the day it became unsafe. On about a week of lead time, noticing early is the whole difference between planned work and a machine parked in the corner of the yard.

Forklift & industrial tires — questions
Do you stock press-ons or solids?
No — those are ordered, like tracks and large construction tires. About a week is the number to plan on, and you get the real timing with the quote before anything is ordered.
How do I know whether mine are press-on or pneumatic?
The wheel tells you. A press-on is a band on a smooth steel wheel with no rim flange; a pneumatic runs on a rim like a truck tire. Send a photo of the wheel and the size off the tire and we will sort it out for you.
Do you press them on?
Press-on tires need a hydraulic press. Is there one here — pressed on at the yard, or on site — or do the wheels go out to somebody with a press? It decides what a customer can be told about timing, and it is asked on the forklift page twice.
Can you come to the warehouse or the plant yard?
Yes. That is the normal way this happens — the machine stays where it works and the truck comes to it.
Do you do solid tires on other equipment?
Scissor lifts, telehandlers, yard tugs and similar industrial machines, yes. If it runs solid rubber and it is in reach of us, it is the same job.
What does it cost?
Standard call-out fee, and whether after-hours differs The tire is quoted when we price the order and the fitting is quoted with it — both numbers before anything is ordered.
