OTR & construction tires

OTR and construction tires — loaders, graders, dumps and cement trucks.

Wheel loaders, motor graders, articulated dump trucks, cement trucks and backhoes. Large construction tires are pre-order — ours and everybody else’s — sourced through the Houston distributors and fitted where the machine is sitting rather than wherever it can be dragged to.

Detail

Earthmover and construction tires, sourced and then fitted where the machine sits.

The machines we fit

Wheel loaders, motor graders, articulated dump trucks, cement trucks, backhoes and tractors, and skid steers running tires. If the machine runs tracks instead — a mini excavator, or a skid steer configured for them — that is rubber tracks, which is a different product ordered a different way.

Large construction tires are pre-order. That is the honest answer

Nobody within reach of you has a loader or grader tire sitting on a rack, and any shop that implies otherwise is going to tell you the truth on the phone instead of on its website. A set of earthmover tires is a pallet of freight, not a box off a shelf. This is normal for a shop this size and it is normal for the large ones too — they order through a distributor and wait on freight or send somebody to Houston, which is exactly what happens here.

What may already be on hand

Some of the common skid steer and backhoe or tractor sizes. Ask when you call and we will tell you what is actually in the yard rather than promising it from a web page. Large construction tires and rubber tracks are never in that answer — those are ordered, every time.

Sourced out of Houston

The distributors that carry OTR rubber for this part of the state are in Houston, an hour and a half down I-10. Depending on what it is and how fast you need it, it comes by freight or somebody drives and picks it up. About a week is the number to plan around — that is what tracks, press-on tires and solids run — and you hear the actual timing when we quote it. Press-ons and solids have their own page: forklift and industrial tires.

Order before the machine stops, not after

This is the part worth knowing. A tire that is down to the cords on a machine you are still running is an order you can place today and fit on a Saturday. The same tire failing mid-pour or mid-haul is the same lead time with a machine sitting through all of it. If you can see one coming, call it in — that is the cheapest work on this page and it is the reason the pre-order reality is worth understanding rather than resenting.

Yes to the jobsite

Equipment tires get changed where the equipment is — a yard, a plant, a laydown area, a shop pad, and an active site off pavement. In the dirt with the machine where it stopped is normal work and we come out for it. Tell us what the way in looks like when you call, mostly so we know which gate to come through and what to bring with us.

Questions

OTR & construction tires — questions

Do you stock loader, grader or dump truck tires?

No, and neither does anybody else around here. Large construction tires are pre-order through a distributor — for a shop this size and for the big ones equally. What we do is start the ordering as soon as you call and bring it to the machine when it lands.

How long does a pre-ordered tire take?

Plan on about a week. That is what tracks, press-on tires and solids run door to door, and a large earthmover tire depends on the size and on where in the state it is sitting. Freight or a run to Houston changes it either way, and you get the actual timing with the quote rather than after you have committed.

Is there anything you keep in the yard?

Some common skid steer and backhoe or tractor sizes, and it changes. Call with the size off the sidewall and we will tell you whether it is here or ordered.

Do you come out to the machine, or does it have to come to you?

We come to it, and that includes an active jobsite off pavement rather than only a yard or a shoulder. Describe the way in when you call and we will know what to bring.

Will you fit a tire I have already bought?

Will you fit a tire the customer supplied, and at what rate?

Which brands do you get?

Which tire brands are actually carried or preferred

What does an OTR tire call cost?

Standard call-out fee, and whether after-hours differs Equipment work is quoted on the specific tire and the location, and the tire itself is quoted when we price the order — you get both numbers before anything is ordered.

Is there anything you will not work on?

Access is the only thing worth raising, and it is a conversation rather than a rule — a loaded service truck needs a way in that will take it, so tell us what the ground is like and we will work out between us where to meet. Anything else, ask on the phone and you get a straight answer before a truck rolls.
